Totoro Totori.... Tutorial! :3

Ok, here we go :3

Please, read carefuly the instuctions before you start cutting and sewing!

First, you will need some felt: gray, white or butter like white and a very few black.
And restorative. My Totoro was partly filled with one of my old and killed-by-the-dog plushes   interior parts.

The black parts are the Nose (H) and the dots of its Eyes (G).
The whitish parts are the Tummy (D) and the Eyes (F).
The gray parts are the Body (A), the Tale (B), the Butt (C), the Arms (E) and the Marks on its tummy (I).

(The alphabets are on the drawing, down.)

You have to decide how would you like to sew it: showing the thread (in this case ensure that you don't sew ungly), or hide the thread (you turn every part inside out).

I've made my own with the first technique (see it above.)

But I'll also try to help those who choose the second technique (:

If you want to sew it "lineless" leave some space between the actually drawed line (where you are going to sew) and the cutting line at A, B, C and E. (When you have to do something different it is signed like this.)

The other parts have to sewed on the outside of the plush (: For those parts you'll need some white, black and grey thread.

A- cut out twice, first following the Blue line, and second following the.... Pinkish purple- including the tail

B- cut out one more, like the Orange line. You already have one tail on the body!

C- cut out once

D- one piece is needed

E- you'll need four of this. Two for both arm (:

F- two

G- also two

H- only one

I- seven pieces. Yes, 7.

After you cutted them out, you'll have something like this:

(Yeah, I first wanted legs too, but they got ugly. I left them, and my Totoro didn't turned to be worst than it could be without legs...)

1. Sew two arms- E- together, and as they are separated by the body, you'll also have to fill them.
Make on them some claws with black thread (: But only that side that away from the body. Repeat with the other two arm pieces.
2. Sew on the tummy- D- the 7 marks- I- with gray thread. Three on the top and four beneath them. Like on the picture, with tiny stiches.
3. Sew together the two eye parts- F, G- with black thread. The back of them won't be seen- do this as ugly as you want. And the two eyes are two eyes: Don't sew them together!
4. If you made sure that the two body parts are like you wanted them- oversized or not- situate on them the eyes- FG-, the finished tummy- DI- and the nosey -H.
Be careful- Both techniques need space on the edges!
5. Sew them (the eyes, the tummy and the nosey) on the tailles body. And make some whishers ;3

6. Stitch the tail- B- and the taily body- A.
7. Sew together the two body -A. If you'll turn the pushie inside out don't forget: Totoros face have to be inside while you doing this part and the tail is going to also turns- it have to be opened (as it is turned inside out) outside, but please try it before actually stitch them.

The bottom have to left untouched. If you did well, you can put your hand inside your Totoro (:

8. Start sew the bottom- C- while its face is still inside, but leave a hole where you can turn it inside out. It means, the half of the whole bottom...hole.
9. Stitch together the tails left edge with the butt. It was quite hard to me, so take care while doing this section.
10. Turn it inside out and Fill it, then finish the sewing.

11. Add the arms- E. On the inner side of the arms (where ther are no claws) sew together the body and the arm about five or six stitches without piercing the clawed side. If your stitches is on the same place, the arm can move circulary. Use grey thread and make sure that they won't fell down. Repeat on the other side.

12. Admire you new, selfmade Totoro plush! (:

If you have some green felt you could also sew it a leaf (:
Some days I'm going to make it some friends. A white one and a blue one :P
