Fishbones prototype

As this is my final year in grammar school, I should prepare to my final exams, but hey, why should I hold myself back if I have inspiration? :D

After those Temmo mushrooms and Ziggs bombs I couldn't rest. What if the words nerds needs my jewelry? I can get better if I practice! But what to do next...?
So, in one of my free moments I started to google other LoL themed stuff to craft, and well... I had the idea for quite long, but only then came to my mind again. Jinx's Fishbones :)

That's her, and the shark-shaped-bazooka is Fishbones :)

So again, the crazy women's name is Jinx, the Loose Canon, she is a bad girl in Piltover, where my dearest Vi works as a cop, Jinx likes to mess with Piltovers Finest, there are several Easter eggs depending on their relationship.
(Also look at both splash art, Jinx has the same background as Vi but this time in complete chaos)
She's one of my favs, not like I could play properly with her, but she costed me way to much, I cannot afford not loving her... :D

But, if I'm right, you're not interested in a lore you'd read anywhere, so Here comes Fishbones!

Yeah, again a tiny thingy :P

First of all, inspiration. I'd like to thank to the internet for supporting me during this hard period of my life!
I found a beautiful reference, which was the best thing that could have happened to me:

I know that it's just a detailed model viewer image, but it helped me a lot, and is a truly great reference. If you think so, visit the original DeviantArt page of this pic.

During my long search on the interned I found another Fishbones, made by polymer clay that has woken my long forgotten pride.. :D
Envy makes me work hard. Good thing to know.

Please, visit the artists' DeviantArt page here :)

As I like to work detailed (no, really, I feel kind of maniac in detailing), this piece of cuteness stayed way too much in my mind and made me decide to make a proper copy of Fishbones. MidSummers' craft is pretty recognizable, but is too big and looks heavy for my taste, as I wanted to make my Fishbones a pendant on a necklace :)

Firstly, to make it light it should contain possibly a minimum amount of clay.
And, as I cannot mix silver colored polymer clay, I had to buy some. Lot time were spent on sketching and measuring the single pieces, such as the length of the belts or the width of the head.

Not like I want to make a tutorial or something, but I made progress pictures, and as noone can really appreciate my efforts, I'm posting them here.
So if you wish, you could even make your own Fishbones. In this case, please write me a note or a mail, I'd like to see the final works :)
But if you don't think making one by yourself, I can make you one, just tell me.

The first sketch and the basic tube. It still has the hollow in the middle, really not a heavy thing :)

First applied the first silver rectangular, making it to a ring, then the belt and lastly the top rectangular :)

Two rings! Still don't look like Fishbones, or even a sharp-shaped-bazooka...

Look, it's a tail! It should make the thing more like a shark!

Anyway, it's the third tail I made.. Still not completely satisfied with it, but was much better looking than the two before...

If not a shark, at least a bit more Fishbone-ish.

It starts to definitely look alike Fishbones!

And here I had a lot of trouble.. I made the head but it wasn't covered the end of the tube. It already had the eyes on, I've already made the teeth and didn't really had any idea how to save the day.
I decided to narrow the mouth part of the tube by cutting out tiny triangles and forge the tube together again, and also widened the back part of the head by pushing and pulling.. Not the most elegant techniques, I swear, but they worked well for me :D

Here is my Fishbones, finished, before baking :)
I'd like to point out that the top and the bottom part under the flipper, near to the head, don't touch the base, black tube. After baking, they did.. This is a problem still waiting to be solved.

Right before baking.
You can see a hook at its butt, it has been hung from there. The other hook has glued to its mouth. :)

I didn't wanted to lie it down, as it wouldn't have mark where it touches the pan and also wouldn't dent.
I removed the flippers and the handles as they were constantly falling down... Superglue was going to help me solve this problem right after baking :)

And superglue helped! Magic!

After baking and superglue it together, placing the other hook into its mouth, everything worked just fine :)
Some days ago it was caught by something and just fall down. Luckily, I was sitting and it just fall to my lap. No harm was done.

Ugly and vague picture, I hadn't learnt by that time how to use the camera of my mobile. Sorry for that. But it illustrated well how the shark hung.

Also, after discovered that my dear Motorola Defy has a really awesome camera, I made some fancy pictures!
Here, look at them!

If you just got inspired, interested in owning a Fishbones, want to enlighten me about my mistakes or just want to say hi, please, write me a comment or an e-mail, I'm happy to read any of your feedbacks! :)

Hope you enjoyed this post! I'm planning to post more LoL themed stuff here in the near future :)

Thanks for reading! :3
