Secret Ghosts

Again a lost post. It's from Halloween's competition :)

The longest night of the year the souls and the long forgotten spirits haunt the living. Be careful this time of the year, because where candles light the shadows are darker, and even the beauty might be dangerous.



I took part in a Halloween gifting, organized by a group at Devianatart, as a Secret Ghost and made this secret art for Juvia-HimeSama :) She asked for a Peacock girl, though my girl is more like a woman.
On the original art her skirt would be this long if she'd been standing, so I've decided to make her outfit like this. And that's why she turned to be a woman: young girls should not wear super-short dresses ;D
Also, her originally white clothes was changed to dark blue only to fit more into the dark, haunted and candle filled environment.

I wanted her to feel mysterious, but not only by being half human and half peacock, but by making her unquestionably realistic in her grotesque existence.

I've made it approximately under 6 hours and used watercolor, white aqurill and black pen for the basic lines. For the stars I used a toothbrush and white aqurill :D

As far as I can decide, she liked it, so I was pretty happy :)

I had a lot troubles with the shading, as I have no experience with watercolor, I ruined her skin and the whole girl because mother said "it's not deep enough, it's too flat, make some shadows"... So I tried. And failed. Really really badly. But, somehow, again I have no idea how did I managed to save it, but I saved it! Not looking horribly ugly, but still flat. Not gonna change it...

The background was inspired by Alfonse Mucha, a secessionist painter, who was famous by his uncomfortably sexy poses, lot tiny details (mostly flowers, but here candles) and the frame, those roundish and curving lines.

So I hadn't have to color the whole stuff, only a part of it. Happy days! ^^

I did not only give but also receive an art and my Secret Ghost was Zöldalma, though it was months ago I just can't get enough from her gift! Even my background is this.. :'D

Still cannot find words for that. Just so perfect. Love it. Please, take a look at this talented artist on DevinatArt (linked upper), and if you like it at least a bit, give her some favs. She is really someone who deserves it!

Hopefully, I can finally finish some of my drawings of Blanche and then show you :) She is a complex and pretty much unfinished character of mine.. But you'll gone love her :)
